Crescent Lake is a crescent-shaped lake in Yueyaquan, a desert oasis. It is located 6km south of Dunhuang city in Gansu province, China. It is also known as the crescent moon spring, crescent spring, or Yuya spring.

Beautiful golden sand hills, stunning crescent-shaped blue lake and green colour trees make the unbelievable harmonious natural setting. This amazing experience is considered a natural wonder of the Gobi desert.

The lake’s typical depth is 4 to 5 meters, with the deepest point measuring 7.5 meters. The length of the lake is recorded as 100 meters. This lake was a part of the Danghe river in thousand years ago and left it as a separate part when the river changed its path. The strong wind also influenced this situation. Scientists explained that subterranean water streams of the Danghe river continuously replenish to balance the water level of the lake.
