Laguna Colorada is a shallow salt lake in the southwestern corner of the Bolivian Altiplano. It is also called the “Red lagoon”. The lagoon spans over 6000 hectares but its maximum depth is less than a meter. The vibrant red color of the water comes from the algae and the high content of minerals in the water. The blood red lagoon, which is filled with hundreds of pink flamingos, and an awe-inspiring natural setting make it an otherworldly landscape.
