Mount Fuji stands on the island of Honshū and is considered the highest mountain in Japan and the second highest in all of Asia.  It rises to 3776 meters close to the Pacific Ocean coast in Yamanashi prefecture and Shizuoka ken prefecture. The perfectly shaped volcano has become one of the most iconic national symbols of the country. The Japanese people have had a strong spiritual bond with this giant mountain over the centuries. The half-snow-covered conical scenic mountain is a paradise for hikers, artists, and photographers.
